DOUG MITCHELL JR. has more than 27 years in the fire service. He is a captain in the Fire Department City of New York's 7th Division; previously, he was the executive officer of the Probationary Firefighters School. He served as a lieutenant in the Bronx, a fire marshal in Queens, and a firefighter in Manhattan. He is a vice president of Traditions Training, LLC. He has a B.S. degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. He co-authored 25 to Survive: Reducing Residential Injury and Line-of-Duty Deaths (Fire Engineering, 2013).
