Keith Padgett

Chief Keith Padgett currently serves as the Fire and Emergency Medical Services Program Director with Columbia Southern University (CSU) in the College of Safety and Emergency Services. At the university he works closely with Instructional Design and Technology as a subject matter expert and provides direction and instruction to CSU teaching professors. Having retired as the Chief-Fire Marshal for the Fulton County Fire- Rescue Department, a suburb of Metropolitan Atlanta, Keith was employed with this organization for over 28 years. He was assigned to manage the Community Risk Reduction Section of the department, overseeing all aspects of Fire Prevention, Fire Safety Education, ArsonInvestigation and Public Information. He also has a long history at the emergency operations level in the organization, serving as the special operations chief during his career. As a 33 year member of the fire service, Keith has had the opportunity to experience various facets of our profession, including career, volunteer, and combination departments. Keith is a certified FirefighterParamedic and has completed the Executive Fire Officer Program (EFOP) through the National Fire Academy. He holds a Master of Science Degree in Leadership with an Emphasis in Disaster Preparedness and Executive Fire Leadership, as well as the Chief Fire Officer Destination (CFOD). Keith currently serves as a Specialty Educational Board member for the International Association of Fire Chief (IAFC) Executive Fire Officer Program (EFOP) Section as the Chair of the Higher Education sub-committee. He previously served for 7 years as a Director at Large board member on the Safety Health and Survival Section with the IAFC as well.
