Across the fire service, anyone may encounter scenes where rope rescue is needed skills, even if technical rescue teams aren’t readily available. High-rise emergencies, confined space rescues, injuries at construction sites, or lost hikers in the wilderness are just some of the many potential calls. This course, filmed with the team from Advanced Rescue Solutions, presents a common sense approach to technical rescue utilizing equipment you likely already have on your rig. Throughout this course, the instructors will cover the process of setting up a mechanical advantage system to lift a victim, selecting safe edge restraints and how to use a body anchor when operating in high places, and rescuing a victim trapped in an elevated impalement. Rope rescue can be highly technical, but understanding the forces and mechanics behind the setups will help inform rescue operations in the field.
